This energy analysis and retrofit project was completed as part of a team. The goal of the energy model was to highlight weaknesses in the existing building systems of the Branner Earth Sciences Library at Stanford University, and through eQuest modeling propose a number of recommended energy efficiency measures. The existing conditions were modeled in eQuest, followed by individual energy efficiency measure runs to compare energy savings over the baseline. Once results were available for each individual energy retrofit, a life cycle cost analysis with a 15 year horizon was used to screen viable projects from those without savings. After ranking the best retrofits, a combination model was run in eQuest to calculate the incremental life cycle costs and ultimately, produce an overall energy improvement recommendation to the client.
